bald spot due to braids

Hi,
I recently got my hair braided. The braids were done so tight that i ended up with a bald spot approx 2 inches. The scalp is soft to touch. I am currently using organic root stimulator a fertilizing temply balm suggested by my liscensed hair stylist. Its been a wk since I started using it, she said if no sign of hair in 4 wks then it will not grow back and I may need to see a dermatologist for injections. Please help me, I need some information.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
From the symptoms it looks like traction alopecia. Traction alopecia is caused by gradual hair loss, caused primarily by pulling force being applied to the hair.  If there is slight receding of hair, then stop tying it in a bun or ponytail and it should get better. But if there is any folliculitis and ulceration associated then it is severe in nature. Treatment includes topical and oral antibiotics and surgical hair transplantation procedures.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
