I had this problem and through trial and error found the diaper rash cream has solved my problem pretty much 100%. After a shower, I dry it out really well and put the cream around the outside, I don't really even have to put it deep in the belly button. It has eliminated the smellSmell - impaired Stools - foul smelling and stays relatively dry.
I had the stinky belly button after i got it pierced. it smelled like wet metal. i just dry it with a q tip when i get out of the shower. my problem was solved like that.
if it smellsSmell - impaired Stools - foul smelling and itches then you probably have some sort of infection in there. Thats why it makes sense that the diaper rash cream would work, since its made to kill the bacteria that causes diaper rash. You could probably also try peroxide although it may dry it out a little too much. make sure you dont let it get too moist, it might sound stupid but there may be water trapped in there after a shower. try hitting it w/ a blowdryer after a shower to make sure all the water is dried up. and try to clean it w/ not perfumed soaps, they may irritate it more. use soaps like dial liquid or any other soap that you may use if you were cleaning a fresh tattoo or piercing.
It's because when you sit down your belly button is smooshed togeter and it gets moist. Just like any other place that gets moist and warm it develops yeast and you get a minor yeast infection in there. I had this too and no matter how much you clean it it always stays stinky. It ***** but just about the only thing you can do is put cream in it to keep the bacteria out. I sometimes put baby powder in mine to keep it from getting moist. It works pretty good but it gets matted up after a while.
