My fiance just pierced her own naval about 3-4 days ago and is rather infected. The skin around the pierced skin has turned white (i think its the skin) well its attached to her skin and she has been cleaning it with hot salt water, hydrogen peroxide, and hand
Get to a shop that does piercings and get the bottle of stuff that they sell for that type of piercing. The belly button takes that longest to heal of all piercings (including the tongue
(off and on) for a very long time (3-4 months or so). I remember being told some good information at the time of my piercings about what to do and not to do and I have feeling that using hydrogen peroxide and salt water are not recommended. She needs to speak to someone who does this for a living
How are you? How is your belly ring? With the pus coming out, i agree that it was an infection. I hope antibiotics was prescribed by your doctor to treat this.
Take care and keep us posted.
. It may also cause some scarring and potential nerve damage. Failing to properly sterilize the piercing equipment used, failing to clean and sterilize the wound , and failing to use proper piercing techniques are all causes of increased risk factors when getting your belly piercing.
If you are contemplating a belly pierce, to minimize infection and other effects, it would be best to go to a certified body piercing shop for the procedure.
OMG, YOU'RE USING TOO MANY PRODUCTS!! FOR SURE! You definitely can be doing more harm than good and thats why your piercing is irritated. For example, hand soap: TOO HARSH! Stuff like Dial can be overdrying and too powerful. I' d recommend to use surgical soap such as Satin skin cleanser, they should sell it at piercing shops or you can always get it online. Hydrogen Peroxide: TOO HARSH!!. Yes HP does get rid of dead tissue but IT KILLS HEALTHY TISSUE too, impeding your healing. That's why stuff like that says on their labels "do not use for wounds". YOUR BEST CHOICE is definitely the warm salt water soak. It does wonders for piercings and cleans them very well. BUT if not done right, it can be just as damaging. Use only a 1/4 teaspoon of SEA SALT (very important) to 1 cup of distilled water. Soak for 5-15 minutes twice a day and you should be on your road to recovery!
