Preliminary diagnosis of scabies--doctor prescribed a pediculicide which was applied today, but we were told the itching might continue for a few weeks---What is (are) the most effective OTC itch relief medicines?? Please provide several recommendations as to what medicines to get so we can switch if one doesn't prove to be effective.

1. Sarna, or any lotion containing camphor and menthol.
2. Any lotion containing pramoxine (ask your druggist).
3. Any lotion or cream containing diphenhydramine (Benadryl).

Best.
