big mosquito-like bumps that come out of nowhere and then disappear!

Hi, I have been experiencing big bumps that start pink and then become huge and white within minutes. they are raised with somewhat ragged edges.
they are sometimes round, sometimes more a straight line. They itch like crazy but then go away after a couple hours. I get them most often on my hands and feet, but also a lot on my arms, legs, and face. I get a couple every day. a lot of times they are on my fingers, on the section closest to my hand.  They are on the areas least likely for them to be hives. The best description is that they look like big nasty mosquito bites. I have been getting them for atleast 6 months. what could they be?

Hello,
For such symptoms scabies is an important possibility. It is characterized by intense itching, usually at night and by small insect-type bites lesions on the skin between the fingers and toes. Diagnosis of scabies is made by scraping the skin and viewing the material under a microscope to see the characteristic mite or eggs.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hi,
From the symptoms the possibility of hives needs to be ruled out. Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours.
The mainstay of treatment of hives is antihistamine like Benadryl which may be necessary for prolonged periods (in excess of 6 weeks). Short courses of oral cortisone or steroids are taken for short periods (one to three days) to settle more severe symptoms. Your daughter may take Vitamin C along with the prescribed treatment. Vitamin C is a general anti-allergy supplement. It helps stabilize mast cells so they are less likely to release histamine.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
