We have been having problems for 3 months + with what I thought was a form of Psoriasis called guttate. Then my wife started having the same problem 3-4 weeks later. They are small insect
, bright red, and some bruising. We thought then, poss bed-bugs, but the bug man from Orkin, said all we had were carpet beetles, and we had eliminated them. He could not find any bugs. Any ideas - we are almost crazy with itching
, contagious diseases like scabies and fungal infections need to be ruled out. Guttate psoriasis is not contagious. Until and unless it is confirmed that it is a fungal infection, you should not use topical and oral antifungals. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get KOH examination of the skin scrapings done.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
