black mark under toenail

i hit my toe nail on some stairs and my toe hurted real bad, when i took my sock of it was black underneath the toe.
it's very sore and my biggest concern is if the stain will be there forever. please help me.

It looks like a subungual hematoma which a collection of blood (hematoma) underneath a toenail or fingernail. It can be extremely painful as it is formed after injury. Treatment consists of releasing the pressure by drilling a hole through the nail into the hematoma (trephining) or by removing the entire nail.
