black painful line growing under my thumb nail.....

I have been noticing a black strip has been growing underneath my nail in my left hand thumb. I am a left handed person, and this very painful. At times there is slight swelling/inflammation too. This has been happening on a recurring basis. Is this a wart or a fungal infection? Please advise a solution.

you need to see a gp urgently!

this could possibly be a melanoma under your nail...very dangerous!
the symptoms are not normal, and very worrying..please have it checked out straight away!
