blemishes from chicken pox

by sptill, Jun 04, 2002 12:00AM
My girlfriend (28) got over the chicken pox approximately one month ago. She is very self conscious about these purplish blemishes that are covering her body. They do not appear to be scars, just discolorations of the skin where the sores were. She has very fair skin. Is this typical of chicken pox and how long do these blemishes usually last? Are there any treatments that can accelerate the disappearance? Thanks!

Discolorations fade on their own, though they may take a couple of months.  Using topical Vitamin E cream or lotion (no special brand) seems to help.  If the skin is smooth (not indented), they will not scar.

Time heals lots of things, and this is one of them.

Best.
