Thank you so much for ur feed back I know my son has some allergys mainly to cats and dogs grass and eggs i now wonder if he has been in contact with any of these i know he is ok with cats and dogs as long as he doesnt have close contact with his body the doctors have given him antibiotics but even they didnt know what was the cause i used to do wet wrapping for my son legs as they used to bleed so ive been doing this with just his fingers and although it is helping with the fingers being sore and dry they are still blistering up and peeling i have to take my son back to the doctors when he finishes his meds then they will send he to dermatoligy.
Thank you
Hi thank you for ur advice i took my son to the doctors and they couldnt figure out what was wrong with him they have put him on antibiotics as a precaution and said thet if it didnt clear up after he has finished the corse then to go back my son has alway has mistery skin problems as when he gets run down he gets blisters on his back legs face hands arms and so forth to which he was taken to hospital with and they did all kinds of tests and couldnt come up with anything they just said it was a rare form of skin problems and gave him steroid cream to manage it when it gets bad but what he has had this time was totaly differant as the scin has pealed off his fingers in quite thick layers and is proving to be quite painfull for him at times the only thing that i have found has helped my son is doin a kind of wet wrapping but with just his fingers but this only stops them form being sore and cracking and the skin going hard it hasnt helped with stopping the blisters.
I also thought it may have been caused by strep and the doctor did mention this but she ruled it out due to him not haveing any other symptoms ??
Many thanks for ur feed back
Hello,
One of the possibilities for your son’s symptoms is pompholyx or dyshidrotic eczema. The exact cause is not known and excessive sweating can be one of the reasons. But some triggers like allergic reaction to soaps, detergents, foods, latex, nickel etc may trigger the symptoms. Apply some calamine lotion on the affected area and keep the area well moisturized. Use only thin applications of moisturizer ointments as excessive amounts of ointment may restrict breathing of the skin and aggravate the condition.
Topical steroids can be applied but they are available under prescription. Moreover to prevent infection, topical antibiotics may be needed. I suggest you to consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Are they tiny? When my sister was younger she had tiny blister like bumps all over her palms and finger tips. When my mom took her to the doctors they diagnosed her with Impetigo .Impetigo is a contagious skin infection caused by Staph or Strep. Hers was caused by strep. They put her on an antibiotic and a cream and it went away after a week or so. Hope this helps
