brown spots on penis

by Simon, Aug 29, 2000 12:00AM
hello. for the past several months I've experience the following symptoms.  sensitivity at the very tip of my penis, not all the time but frequent enough - usually as the day progresses.  also I have noticed that I have what looks like freckles or sunspots on the head, a few light brown spots. they didn't pop-up full color, gradually darkening over time.  no discharge or pain in urination. I don't know if it is sexual or not, but had it checked at a clinic and visually the Dr. did not believe it to be herpes or anything because they are not raised or sore.  the urologist I saw felt they were just skin spots and I should not worry.  I'm not comfortable with "letting it go" because the sensitivity still remains and another spot started to surface.  why would spots just appear? thanks you for your time.  ...panicking....

Sometimes, Simna, you have to take yes for an answer.  Spots come when they will, for no particular reason, and the sensitivity, in light of the doctors' benign opinions, is because you're thinking about your penis too much.  If you have been engaging in unsafe sexual practices, you might want to stop.  If you're anxious for no particular reson and can't get it out of your mind, you might want to consider counseling.  If my reassurance does the trick, that would be best of all.

Best.

thank you Dr. Rockoff I appreciate your reply.  As much as I'd like to put it out of my mind, the physical symptoms/sensations are persistent basically daily, which is what concerns me most.  it started months ago and has not stopped.  there has to be a reason.  after 32 years you penis should not just be an irritation all of a sudden.  I was just hoping for some common problems associated with sensitivity from the tip and/or what would potentially cause spots/freckles/light-moles to show up.
I know it's asking a lot especially without an examination, but any direction would be helpful.  I plan to see another doctor, this has been going on too long.  any topic you could present would greatly be appreciated, if for nothing else they could be more possibilities we could rule out.  thank you again for you time.

By all means see another doctor.  But these symptioms don't remind me of any disease.  Yes, senstivity and spots do just start for no particular reason.  That;s just the way things are.
