bump on penis

HI
IM a 13 year old boy and a couple days ago i noticed a slightly irritated painless bump a little smaller then a pinhead on the skin of my penis. It was reddish and solid but not hard.  I cant really see any hole on the top of it like you see on pimples and its is fairly smooth. i picked at it and it got more irritated. about a day later it had kinda get a whitish scabby material on it. I have never seen this before on my penis. it is about where foreskin starts(im uncircumcised) and seems to get smaller when its not irritated. Im a virgin  so i dont think it could be a STD but im really scared it might be penile cancer. I do masturbate a lot and most of the time i dont wash my penis off after i masturbate. I try to clean my penis regularly but sometimes i dont get around to it for a few days. I read that it is possible to get pimples on the penis but i dont know if its a pimple or not. im EXTREMELY  worried about this and loosing major sleep over it.(im shaking so hard right now its hard 2 type). there has been no bleeding or discharge. IT is smoothish and raised slightly. it is only on the skin of my penis and not attached to the actual penis its self. i dont have any other detectable signs of penile cancer and i read that penile cancer is fairly rare in the USA and extremely rare in people under 40. even so im still horrified at the thought of loosing my penis. I am pretty embarrassed to talk to anyone about it but its becoming so much of a worry i might try to talk to my dad. basically my questions are: Do you think it is penile cancer? IF not what could it be? Is it something i should make a doctors appointment for? any other comments/questions about this would be appreciated.

Thanks a lot JeSsE

thank you very much for easing my mind. I keep trying to convince myself that penile cancer is very rare and almost unheard of in people under 40 but somehow i cant get over it=( i do masturbate a lot in 1 day sometimes and dont wash that one day it is probably just irritation. but 1 last question. how long should i wait before i tell my parents? thanks a lot for the help.

Hello,

First of all,pls stop worrying as STD’s and penile cancer at such an age and without any other symptom is rare. It can be folliculitis, contact dermatitis, rash due to friction rub with clothes, dermatitis (atopic, contact, allergic),excessive sweating causing sweat dermatitis or balanitis(due to an underlying infection (bacterial and fungal as well as other organisms) .

You may try calamine lotion on the rash. You should also maintain hygiene and try to keep the area clean and dry, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing. Also use an antibacterial soap or mild soap like dove.Avoid any kind of cosmetics. You can also use a barrier cream with zinc oxide paste or a mild steroid cream like dermacort on the rash. If the bump is itchy, you  can take some antihistaminic like benadryl or Claritin.

If the lump persists then it will be best to get it evaluated from a dermatologist.

Hope it helps .Take care and pls do keep us posted in case you have any additional queries.Kind regards.
