bump undereye

Hello,
   About 3 weeks ago a waterblister type of bump appeared under my right eye. I just assumed it was a minor allergic reaction and ignored it and that same night about 2 hours later it went away. About a week later it appeared again and then it dissapeared about 2 hours later. And now it has been about 2 days and it came back but it is not as noticable as it was the last time. I don't know what it is or where it came from. Do u think it is just an allergic reaction to something? It doesnt hurt or anything I actually dont even realize when it appears. Thank You, millsbrosfan

Hi,

There could be several causes of the symptoms you are having including a cyst, skin tag, ectropion or oxalosis.

1. Ectropion is  Inversion of eyelids outwards.
2. Oxalosis is  A rare inherited metabolic disorder where excess oxalic acid forms crystals which make up urinary stones.
3. Sebaceous cyst: Cyst producing sebum.

The most like cause seems to be sebaceous cyst but nothing can be said with surety without having a look at the lesion. Symptoms of Sebaceous cyst
click here

    * Painless smooth skin lump
    * Thick yellowy sebum in the lump

Always seek professional medical advice about any treatment or change in treatment plans.Treatment for Sebaceous cyst

    * Watchful waiting - many sebaceous cysts are harmless and need no treatment until they cause any symptoms.
    * Surgical removal of sebaceous cyst
    * Treatment of sebaceous abscess:
          o Antibiotics
          o Surgical drainage of abscess

If the symptoms still persist, consult your skin specialist or dermatologist.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,

It is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis without clinical examination,but the various possibilities for your symptoms are syringoma(a non-cancerous (benign) bump usually found on the upper cheeks and lower eyelids of young adults. Syringomas are completely harmless and are caused by the overgrowth of cells), milia(common non-cancerous (benign)lesions formed when skin does not slough off normally) , and sweat dermatitis.

Treatemnt of syringoma and milia  is by electrocautery ,cryotherapy,laser or surgical excision.Also use eye creams with the least amount of ingredients possible to avoid irritating the delicate thin eye area. Also, gently touch the eyes and avoid rubbing the eyes vigorously so as not to damage the skin.Also use good quality sunscreens when going out in the sun.

Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted if you have any additional doubts.
