bump where penis meets scrotum**

by notsure12, Oct 10, 2008 02:28PM
Ok well i have noticed a small flesh colored bump where the scrotum meets the base of my penis. This freaks me out because it has been there for a few monthes. I do shave that area and have one similar bump (this one is much smaller) in my pubic area, as well as another (even smaller) on the underside of my penis. this one is also at the base close to the scrotum. I use condoms every time i have sex but i know that HPV can get you where the condom doesnt cover. These bumps are firm and seem to get irritated when i shave. the largest one seems to change in size (smaller and larger back and forth). i have read extensively about warts and colluscum and other possible bumps in that area and i was just curious. any thoughts?
i do plan on going to the dr. but i wanted to give myself some time to go without messing with these bumps so they wont get confused. agian there isnt a huge amount of them. there are 3 at the most and one is in my pubic area one is at the part where my scrotum and penis meet and the other is at the same area on the underside of my penis.
thanks in advance.

Hello,

Without external examination it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis, but the various possibilities for this lump are sebaceous cyst, clogged pores or glands on the penis, molluscum contagiosum(a common viral infection resulting in a skin disease that presents itself as small pearl-shaped papules (bumps or lesions), cherry angiomas(Cherry angioma is a cherry-red to purple colored benign skin tumor),HPV warts and herpes blisters. If a bump is new, and especially if it shows up after unprotected sex, it is more likely to be an infection esp STI.

Without clinical examination,it is very difficult to confirm a diagnosis and treatment is diagnosis specific. So pls consult a dermatologist and get your this rash examined. Also discuss these possibilities with him.

Hope it helped. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
