bumps surrounding areola of breast

bumps surrounding areola of breast

For years I have been troubled by small bumps/lumps surrounding the areola of both my breasts. I also have black hairs that grow around the area also( I have reddish/blonde hair). It is very embarrasing,& I never asked the doctor when I would go for my checkups.I assumed the doctor would make mention if it was something that needed looking into. I started shaving the hairs,& now I pluck the hairs as I see them growing. What could these lumps be,& why the hair growth?

Both things you describe are normal anatmical variants.  In other words, some people get them normally.  The little bumps are oil glands.  Not much to do about them.  Hairs grow on the chests of about 15% of women.  If they embarrass you, get rid of them.  The best ways are laser or electrolysis, which can achieve permanent reduction.  Temporary methods like plucking, shaving, or waxing are also OK.  At your next visit, ask your doctor explicitly, to be sure my surmises are correct.

Best.
