burn treatment next step

by kcl1022, Nov 08, 2009 12:29PM
i got burned on my shoulder about 3 years back and have received cortisone injections, the burns were red and raised now the scars are flat and less vibrant. i just wanted a second opinion because my doctor seems content with the treatment, he is good doctor, but i feel as though is set in his ways because he is an older doctor. i have been putting aloe vera and mederma on the scars. what is another treatment that i could take up because the skin is obviously a little depleted.

Hello,
Treatment of burns depends upon the depth of injury from a burn. You can go in for glycolic peals, laser treatments and pressure dressings. Severe scarring may need skin grafting by a plastic surgeon.

You can consult a plastic surgeon/dermatologist about these options and find out which one works the best for you. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
