burning sensation on face and then bumps(not blisters)

burning sensation on face and then bumps(not blisters)

Hi there,

I have a burning sensation on my chin, followed by bumps.  I have noticed that everyone of these bumps have a hair follicle in the middle of them.  Now I do have hsv1 for about 2 years.
I fully understand the tingly feeling before an outbreak.  This burning sensation is different, along with the bumps that are involved with.  These bumps dont seem to be the same.  They dont itch at all.  Thisis a recurring thing for me and have no idea what this is.  For I while i thought that these bumps were from the HSV1.  But after treatment with denavir, zovirax, and other,  They have no effect on this bumps.  I feel I have a another skin condition along with the hsv1 but am not sure.  I am going to see my dermatologist in 2 weeks.  I thank you for your time and would love for some advice from someone out there.

Hi,
This could be a case of folliculitis.Folliculitis is the inflammation of one or more hair follicles which may occur anywhere on the skin.

starts when hair follicles are damaged by friction from clothing, blockage of the follicle, shaving. Sycosis barbae or Barber's itch is a staphylococcus infection of the hair follicles in the bearded area of the face, usually the upper lip. Shaving aggravates the condition.

In most cases of folliculitis, the damaged follicles are then infected with the bacteria Staphylococcus (staph). They enter the follicles through the tiny cuts made while shaving.
It presents as rash (reddened skin area) followed by an outbreak of pimples or pustules located around a hair follicle.
Topical antiseptic treatment is adequate for most cases. If it is not responsive then topical antibiotics such as mupirocin or neomycin containing ointment can bring about a resolution when applied on the bumps.

In severe cases, oral antibiotics may also be required.
