calcification /dermatomyositis

by Robin lawson/sawki1@aol.com, Jan 05, 2000 12:00AM
My son has Dermatomyositis. and now has calcifications wide spread under and over his upper legs. I have to keep them wrapped up and changed every other day. And he stays in alot of pain with this. what is the current treatment for this? can he get help?

Robin:

I apologize, but dermatomyositis is such an uncommon condition that I have no clinical experience with it at all.  You really ought to consult someone who does.  A Pediatric Rheumatologist would be the specialist to seek out, perhpas at a local teaching hospital or medical center.

Best.
