can dyshidrotic eczema go away?

by Icabod, Jul 11, 2009 08:12PM
when i was little i had eczema off and on behind my knees and on the inside of my elbows. for about 10 years i haven't had it at all, in fact, i all but forgot about it. About a year ago i got a funny rash on my hand and the eczema behind my knees came back BIGTIME!! my arms are fine though. My doctor says I have dyshidrotic eczema on my hand and prescribed topical steroids. My mom refuses to let me use them and I apply aloe gel and eucerin instead. at this rate, its still spreading, just slowly. every website i go to says it is chronic or reoccurring, does that mean it will never go away?

Hello,
Eczema is a chronic dermatitis and whenever triggers are present,it will flare up.Wash the lesions with water and take some anti histaminics like Benadryl or Claritin. Also apply mild steroid cream and plenty of emollients on the effected areas. If the symptoms persist then more potency steroids are needed.Pls consult a dermatologist in that case.Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional queries.Warm regards.
