Hi,

Fungal infection may be found anywhere:  in the body, nails, scalp, foot or groin.  They can easily spread and thrive in warm and moist areas. You could have contributed to your boyfriend's fungal infection as well. But a big factor may also be attributed to his susceptibility to the fungus. Other people are not easily affected while others are more prone. Fungal infections usually respond to anti fungal medication. Topical anti fungal creams may treat his ringworm. However, it is important that he keep the affected area clean and dry and refrain from  spreading the fungus in other parts of the body. This also applies to you. If it persists, a stronger prescription medicine may be given by your doctor.

Take care and regards.
