cancer?

cancer?

I have a flakey condition on my nose that has been there for a couple years now that is slightly sore to the touch sometimes. My changing Dr.'s do not seem concerned about this. It is a bit redish. Could this be a precanser state? I am not near a large cernter of any type to see a specialest at this time. Should I seek one out? there are no black or really dark marks. Please give me your ideas what this could be. thank you. Lynn.

Dear Lynn,

Welcome to the Dermatology Expert Forum!

It is possible that you have developed an actinic keratosis (considered precancerous lesion) on your nose. Treatment is desired for such a lesion for preventive and aesthetic reasons.

Inflamed seborrhoic keratosis (completely benign lesion) is one of several differential diagnoses to be investigated by a dermatologist you plan to see.

Do not worry, just be proactive. Seeing a dermatologist is a good decision.

Wishing You Optimal Health,
Dr. Jasmina Jankicevic

It may be some sort of infection, and although it's not scientifically verified, I'm convinced there can be a causal effect from infection to cancer in some cases.
Have a doc look at it regularly for changes. You may want to have a specialist in the offing (call one, keep their contact info handy, & see how  soon they could get you in) just in case you do see developments.

In the mean time, there are some fantastic anti-microbial natural oils you can try to see of they help, and if they don't, you can cook with them: extra-virgin olive oil, unprocessed coconut oil, grapefruit seed extract (diluted), and oil of oregano (diluted) to name a few.
