change in hair texture

change in hair texture

I am a 62 year old female in excellent health who has always had healthy, thick, manageable hair. When I hit menopause, it turned quite curly, but that was no big deal. Last November I noticed the texture had completely changed to thin feeling, flyaway, and fine and a bit frizzy. I thought it was falling out, but I don't think it is as I don't see hair everywhere. I went to a dermotologist, but she didn't have much to say, maybe it's hereditary. My mother has thin hair, but it didn't get that way until she was in her 80's. My thyroid and iron levels are fine. I am under a lot of stress and from September to November I was having problems resulting in scans, colonoscopy and ultrasounds. They showed nothing, but I did take a round of antibiotics (amoxicillan and metrodiazole (?) that were very strong. My diet is not bad and I'm taking melotonine and have been on Prempro, but went off of it sometime around the time this started. I am now back on it but see no change in my hair.  Hope you can shed some light .....just call me Miserable

Sorry, but I don't have much to add.  Sometimes women tell me their hair texture changes after menopause or chemotherapy, but most such changes don't represent a specific condition, and there's not much to be done except to have your hairdresser do what's possible.....
