change in nail colour

2519379?1203186808
I have what is refered to as classic "half and half" nails on all fingernails.  I've had some bloodwork done but there doesnt appear to be any abnormal results to suggest kidney failure/liver/heart problems which are the usual systemic diseases normally associated with the half white half normal nails colour.  Are there any other know less worrying causes?  Or is it poossible that this is an early symptom to suggest something is wrong but would not necessarily show up in any blood tests? I am in my thirties and generally in good health.  The whiteness is definetely getting more pronounced.  Any ideas?  Thanks

Hi,
How are you feeling?
Your symptom of half pink and white throws up lots of diagnosis which includes local causes like Candida infection and systemic causes.
These symptoms could be due to connective tissue disorder like Systemic Lupus Erythromatosus (but there would be other overt symptoms also present).
You need to see a Cardiologist to rule Infective Endocarditis which can cause such symptom. Do you have palpitation, fever and dizziness?
Candida Intertrigo can have white nails as presentation.
You should be evaluated by a dermatologist for systemic approach and treatment guidelines.
Keep me posted.
Bye.

Hi JainMD.  Thanks for your interest and time.  I generally feel pretty good albeit a little stressed of late but nothing major. I dont have any other symptoms other than general itching in the behind (Candida infection?)  I dont have any problems with palpitations, fever or suffer from dizziness. I've recently noticed from past pictures that this change in colour of my nails appears to have started about a year ago. It seems to be a lot worse now as I never really noticed it before.  It was around that time that I finished having venesections for mild iron overload associated with genetic haemochromatosis. I was lucky enough to have been discovered with this disorder before any symptoms or problems occured.  I'm now on maintenance treatment of 2 venesections per year.  I wonder if its possible that my now lower ferrtitin levels have anything to do with this?  My haemoglobin levels are fine.   The main association on the internet with half and half nails is chronic kidney failure.  Is it possible that this is an early indicator prior to symptoms or am I just being unduly worried.  I'm planning on seeing a dermatologist as you suggest.  Thanks again.
