chicken pox scar

my daughter 22 age had chicken pox 3 weeks ago although she did not scratch any pox she still left with lot of pock marks 11 visible and about another 10. i read on internet the pock marks are permanent. any one ever had chicken pox who left with these scars has successfully treated these kind of scar. will in time they fade. please help

Hi,

Scars from chicken pox may actually persist for a long time  just as with other scars on the body. Infant and children may not present with extensive scarring as wound healing and the process that comes with it seems to be faster in these age groups. With regards to your child's case, the scars at this point may appear deep and extensive since the chicken pox has just resolved. Given time, as healing takes place this may improve.

Just refrain from unnecessarily scratching or touching the area as excoriations may impede the healing process and lead to deeper scarring. Your child may also need topical antibiotics in case some of these healing lesions may be infected.

As the process of healing completes and the scars are completely healed, applying vitamin E cream on the area may help in smoothing the scars.

hi DR, thanks very much. most forum says negative about chicken pox scarring but these website has positive response. thank you all. my daugter  is using vitamin E cream. also calamine as i heard zinc oxide in calamine is soothing even after lesion are healed. i work in a college where some dr. study  one friend who is a dr said she will improve with given time. so to all who have chicken pox there is hope in the end of the tunnel.

my Age is 25 i had suffered from chicken pox in the year 2002....earlier to that i had lot of acne also ...now in the year 2002 i had suffered from severe chicken pox .almost month and half i was suffering from it. i had scratched  during the later staeges of my recovery as i was getting  very impatient about the situation as my exams were nearing. Now i have got loads of scars across my face and forehead.....how can i get rid of theses scars  or at least reduce them to a large extent and look better as it has affected my confidence very much ........i cant face a crowd.....i always try to hide my self .........but actually am a very extrovert kinda person but because of this i have become very introvert kind of person , nor can i look at pretty girls nor do they look at my because of this UGLY face.........CAN U HELP ME???.........

just to put it out there, i am 25 years old and i had chicken pox in 1992. i  still have many scares, about 20. thankfully none on my face but they are noticeable in a bathingf suit and sometimes they itch. its never bothered me, even though i have tried vitamin E and cocoa butter. just learned to live with it

Hi,  i am 30 year old, I got chicken pox 8 weeks ago. I still have scar on my forehead. I am using silicone gel from past 2 weeks. I have not seen much improvement yet. I am wondering how long does it normally take for scars to fade? Is silicone gel
