capillaries in the red area as well. I have sensitive, oily skin. I went to a dermatologist that diagnosed me with seborrheic dermatitis, and prescribed me several medications over several visits: ketoconazole 2% cream, sulfur sulfacetamide (sp?), metrogel (i guess she might have considered it possibly rosacea?), and of course, over the counter products like dandruff
shampoos did nothing as well, and a few of them irritated my skin and made it worse. Hydrocortisone 1% helped, but I have heard horror stories about people using cortisone on their face
for long term problems. From my understanding, removing the inflammation with hydrocortisone would only be a temporary fix, and using it to keep the inflammation at bay for a long time could lead to complications.
Frustrated, I went to see another dermatologist. This dermatologist thought I might have the beginning symptoms of early-onset rosacea, and prescribed me finacea and treated me with one session of Intense Pulsed Light. The IPL helped for the broken capillaries but did little for the redness on the sides of my nose. The finacea did not seem to do much for me.
I have no medical insurance, so all these visits are costing me a fortune, not to mention the cost of the treatments and medication. I am really at wits end here, and I dont even know what disease I am suffering from... One big question that I have is whether it is even possible to have seb derm that is not itchy or flaky (my redness is neither). If that is not likely, then I guess I can assume it is a vascular/rosacea issue.
