circular dark rash
Within the last 24 hours, I noticed a circular rash on the inside of my upper arm, few inches above my elbow. The rash is about the size of a nickel. The outside is slightly red with very fine bumps. The inside is dark brown/black, cracked and scabby. The skin in between the dark scabby areas is normal. It is little tender. What is it? Can I treat it over the counter? Should I see a dermatologist immediately?

Hi,

Do you remember any history of trauma or insect bite to the site?

This could be an allergic reaction, eczema, skin rash due to insect bite etc.

You should keep the area clean and apply some calamine lotion at the site.

Do you notice any associated symptoms of pain, itching, discharge , etc? Are there any such lesions elsewhere?

If the lesions persist, it would be advisable to consult a dermatologist about this.

Let us know about how you are doing and what your doctor advises.

Regards.
