clobetasol used on penis

by Paul228, May 12, 2008 09:29PM
I have vitiligo on the shaft of my penis and the scrotum. I went to a derm who prescribed Clobetasol 2x a day. I used it for 9 days when I noticed that the areas I applied it were totally red (especially on the scrotum) and overall my penis felt "different". I stopped using it immediately. Since then I have found it much more difficult to get and maintain an erection the way i used to before I applied the clobetasol. Is it possible that this medication is responsible for this?
Also, its been over 2 years since this has happened and the redness is still there. will it ever go away?
I wish I had done my research on this medication before I used it. Not sure why anybody would prescribe a super potent steroid for the genital area. It has caused me a lot of anger and frustration. Thank you and look forward to your comments.

Clobetasol does not cause erectile difficulties.  Neither does vitiligo.  I don't know how to explain "redness."  I advise you to consult a dermatologist about the redness, and a doctor who deals with sexual dysfunction about your sexual difficulties.  There may be many reasons for these, including concern over vitiligo and the use of clobetasol, but neither concern has any basis.  You will need to get past them, and you'll need help to do so.  Two years is too long to have waited.

Good luck.
