cold sore scarring?

Iv always gotten cold sores, they show up and heal fully within 3 weeks so I know what they feel like.  But i got a cold sore around Halloween and now its January 8 and the cold sore feels healed, its not bumpy or anything.  But a large red mark is where the cold sore was, and it looks like I still have one.  I went to the doctor 3 weeks ago and he said it just left a bump.  It has looked the same for about a month now showing no signs of loosing color or fading, what should i do? can i do anything?

Recurrent cold sores can cause scarring due to post inflammatory hyperpigmenation. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.
