confused

Hi doctor,

About 6-7 months ago i noticed a lot of bumps on the underside of my penis and i kind of freaked out. I started to look at pictures of genital warts and other things. The bumps did not look like genital warts and they could also only be seen when you stretch the skin back. Another reason i did not think they were genital warts was because there were hair growing out of a lot of them and i read warts could not have hair growing out of them. So i forgot about them for awhile but recently started dating a girl so i decided to get them checked. The doctor said the ones at the base of my penis were totally normal but there were 7 located under the head of the penis that he said he was only 90-100% sure they were not genital warts. Out of the 7 two have long black hairs growing out of tthem and two have short white hairs. you can only see them when you pull the skin back. He said that he did not think they were genital warts but he couldnt be sure. This is why i am confused. How could he not be sure. the reason he wasnt sure was because they were on the head. So basically my question are if there is hair growingin the middle of them does that mean for certainty that they are not warts. and also can cysts or other normal bumps grow that high on the penis.

Thank you

Your doctor was not very helpful. Warts can vary greatly in appearance and you need to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases properly, they can't tell just by looking. I hope it all turns out ok. Always use a condom, don't put yourself at risk sexually and never share towels or flannels with anyone, as warts could be transmitted this way. Loiloi x

I've had something  similar to that. I had a weird bump really far up the shaft and I too was afraid of having HPV or something, so I got it checked. The doc said it was folliculitis - comes from ingrown or shaved hairs, and yes they grow pretty far up there. That may be what it is, and that bump of mine didnt go away for a few months. I'd ask old partners what diseases they have tho if I were you.
