Definitive diagnosis of a fungal infection is through obtaining skin scrapings of the lesion and evaluating for the presence of fungus under the microscope. The fungus thrive in warm and moist areas and can easily spread to other parts of the body. This is why it is strongly advised to wash hands
and to avoid touching other parts of the body while having the infection. This responds well to anti-fungal medications but has a tendency to recur. Try to avoid scratching the area also to prevent secondary infection.
If it persists, it would be best ti have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. Take care and regards.
