I had a cortisone injection about 3 months ago for a cyst in my cheek. Immediately it dented
and the area is also bumpy and there is a white ring around the entire area that is the size if a
quarter. The dermatologist that injected the cortisone says the dent may remain, as it could be
due to the cyst itself. Another dermatologist that I went to for a consultation told me that the entire
area including the dent would resolve itself in a year. Which doctor do I believe?
Information on the internet says that the dents are temporary and they usually take about 6 months
to fill in. I'm not sure if the white area or the bumpy surface reabsorb or what? The dent looks as
though it is starting to fill in. Does this mean that it will continue to improve? Would appreciate a response.
Hello,
These indentations which have formed after steroid injections can take upto 6 months to heal and fill in when collages in formed but sometimes it may take longer or less depending on the depth of the indentations and the response of the skin. If they persist then you can get collagen filling and laser resurfacing done.
