cosmetic body hair bleach pigmented my skin

Being on the fuzzy side, I have for years used various cosmetic hair bleaches to lighten the hair on my upper lip and belly. I have never had a problem before until a few days ago.

I purchased a new brand (Les Cosmetiques - Carrefour cosmetic brand) as it was cheaper and tried it out. I left it on for about 20 minutes, as after checking at 15 the hair was still darkish. With other brands (ie. jolen) I usually have to leave it on 20 - 25 minutes at least to work with no adverse affect.

To my horror, when I washed off the cream, not only was my hair still dark, but the entire area the product had sat was hyperpigmented! Not reddish from irritation that goes away after a couple hours. Not termporarily lighter the way Jolen bleach leaves my skin.

The area on my belly where the cream was is now an orange/brownish, most resembling the color I turn with a tan. It has been like this for 2 days now. No visible reduction so far.

Has anything similar happened to anyone else out there? Will this fade in a few days? a week? a month like an actual tan?   Or have I permanently stained my skin? Will the use of topical hyperpigmentation treatments help (hyroquinone)?

Any help/info is much appreciated??
