crotch rash

crotch rash

I've had a rash in my crotch area for about 2 weeks now.  I haven't tried treating it with antifungal cream or anything like that yet. I thought it may have been caused by chemical burns when I used nair on my anal region, but now I don't really think so. I don't know what it may be.  Also, it may be unrelated or related i'm not sure, but further out on my legs and thighs i have a few bumps which some are almost like little pimples. super nasty. they itch too almost like they're scabies or something. any ideas?

Hi,

Diagnosis of scabies is made by physical examination. Scabies lesions can be scraped to obtain a sample of tissue, which is mixed with potassium hydroxide and examined under a microscope for eggs, feces, and mites. This test confirms the diagnosis and rules out other skin diseases that cause itching. The scabies itch is often severe and usually worse at night and while bathing. Visible symptoms include rash and bumps between the fingers; inside the wrists, elbows, or knees; in the skin creases of the buttocks and groin; around the navel and nipples on the feet; and on external genitalia.

On the other hand, tinea cruris or fungal infection of the groin region causes itching or a burning sensation in the groin area, thigh skin folds, or anus. It may involve the inner thighs and genital areas, as well as extending back to the perineum and perianal areas. Affected areas may appear red, tan, or brown, with flaking, rippling, peeling, or cracking skin. Diagnosis is through skin scrapings obtained from the lesion evaluated under the microscope. This condition usually responds well to anti-fungal medication.

It would be best to have it evaluated by your doctor  to reach a diagnosis. The treatment depends  on the underlying cause. Take care and regards.
