cut on penis

I am circumsized and I have an issue where the skin at the base of the head of my penis is very easily inflammed. This skin is always red and looks like scar tissue that cuts very easy and becomes very puffy and sore after sex. The affected area is about 1/2 an inch long and takes days to return to it's red scar look after sex.

Can anyone suggest a treatment?

Hi.

Thin waxy skin may be associated with a fungal infection or a  dermatitis. Is there any associated itchiness? You may need antifungal medications and corticosteroids here. Inform your physician for a complete assessment as corticosteroids may lead to some side effects such as further thinning of the skin of the genitalia.

Do not apply OTC creams or lotions. I feel this is something superficial . However, if a fungal infection or dermatitis is being considered then this condition may be recurrent.

The area is always red as it looks like waxy thin scar tissue.

There is no pain during urination.

Hi.

The skin of the glans penis is very sensitive. Anatomically, it has a thinner keratinized layer which makes the skin thicker  in other parts of the body. Sexual activity and manipulation of the penile shaft may actually cause some irritation and abrasions on this part of the penis. I suggest that you wash the area with a mild cleanser after sexual activity. Also, you may do the same after urination. There may be an overlying fungal infection or dermatitis. I do not think this is something that requires immediate intervention. Ask your physician about this. You may need topical medications.

Is there any associated redness or itchiness in the area?

Is there any pain in urination?
