cut on penis

by Techno55, Jan 06, 2009 01:02PM
Hi.  The other day after I got home from work I noticed a cut right under the head of my penis while I was showering.  I hadn't noticed it earlier because it did not hurt, it only started to sting when it got soapy.  I didn't think much of it because earilier that night I was working, and the zipper on my pants was open (I didn't close it right away because I was wearing a thick cold weather jumpsuit over it, and I was in the middle of something), and I could feel my penis rubbing up against the zipper.  So, I just assumed I had cut myself on the zipper.

However, it has been about three days now, and the cut has not scabbed or closed.  It is open and slightly moist.  It still does not hurt however I have taken to putting neosphorin on it.  It's appearance and size has not noticably changed.

My question is; does it normally take this long for a cut on the penis to heal?  I've been telling myself that it's probably taking longer than a cut somewhere else on the body because the soft nature of the tissue there, the amount of friction, expanding and pulling etc.

Also, what type of doctor should I see for this? A dermatologist?

Thanks

PS:  You might notice I posted this same question in the public dermatology forum; that was an accident, I meant to post it here.

Yes, cuts on the penis can take several days to heal.  I suggest that you keep treating it as you have been and that if it doesn't heal in 2 weeks that you consult a dermatologist.
Also, be careful with your zipper.

Best.
