cyst

A cyst on the inside of the buttocks (about 2 1/2 above the anus and to the left) has been removed twice.  It seems to be very deep.  This last removal was about 3 X 3 inches and 1/8 to 1/4 inches deep. It was done in a doctors office and had MANY stitches in it.  It had been extremely painful and my husband had problems sitting.  He has had so many so called diagnosies and no one seems to agree. what could it be?

To: SillyCat1,
Hello,
What your husband seems to be having is called pilonidal cyst. It is a cyst right over the coccyx area. In this the skin becomes reddened or even sometimes looks like a small bruise. When it is infected, it causes pain. Antibiotics or surgical drainage may be required.

My advice would be to consult a general surgeon.
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
