dark circle around lips

My daughter who is 10 year old and has history of mild eczema maily on the hands developed very dry lips two weeks ago.First week we applyed E45 cream and it got better.
Next week while eating something spicy her lips flared up and again she suffred from dry chapped lips.she started licking her lips but may be 10 times a day..so we applied butter on her lips ..which was salted.
now her dry lips have been cured with no dryness or discomfort but she has devleoped perioral pigmentation ..which is dark circle around her lips..look like moustache
Gp has prescribed 1% hydrocortisone..but pigmentation is still very apparent and very dark.
what could be the cause of this.does this goes away?
We are from india.
My daughter is eating mangoes from last month but not allerigic  to them as she always have them in season.
Please respond

Just apply vaseline, may be just chapped lips.I think more a fear reaction from your side. There is nothing of concern.

True sensitization to aloe is rare, however best to stick to vasline only. The problem is that you are more worried than you should be.It will settle down.

My son is having the same problem with the rig around his mouth. I thank God it does not bother him like it bothers me. I have tried the lemon juice and coconut oil and it is not working.. I also used coco butter and it is not working. I really wish someone would find a remedy that works.

Hello Maya. My daughter has the exact same condition as your daughter. She is now 15, but has had this problem since she was 8. It started from chapped lips when we lived in Illinois.(Cold weather and severe winters) And she soon started licking around her lips causing the pigmentation. We are from India but live here in Arizona. She feels very insecure about it and it looks like a mustache. We have taken her to several doctors and dermatologists with no positive results. Let me know your daughter's current condition and if you can help somehow. Also, you mentioned that you went to visit a dermatologist in Pune, India.  You had said there was considerable improvement. Since nothing has worked, we are thinking about laser treatment. Any advice about the situation?

Alopecia areata is generally self limiting, so tells an old friend of yours who is with me ,and that spontaneous regeneration is there in most cases.Nothing to worry.

hello doc,
Its been while since i last posted here.I have been to india.I tried to contact dr kelkar but he was out of station but i consulted another derma in pune, he gave me same answers and luckily i am noticeing huge diffrence in my daughter.
We came back two weeks ago.Last week after swimming my daughter washed her hair at that time we noticed two blad patches on her scalp.its not completly blad but has tiney broken hair..My GP thinks its alopecia areata as the scalp look heathy and normal.what can we do now? is there any treatment..i have read a lot about it. but there is no certain conclusion.

Thanks a lot for your input...i wont for sure have any fading cream on my daughter...laser treatment is also not an option i mean she is just 10...if this does not go say in 2 years time than may be i will have to consider it.Have you come across presistant childhod pigmentation ...how would you treat it. Our families are in Mumbai/pune...so choosing dermatologist is going to be a challenge.

About ayurveda and other alternative methods I am not sure, and do not want to experiment  childs face, covered parts might have been worth a trial.

The pigment that has formed is carried away by cells known as macrophages, and it is a slow process.Depigmenting cremes are harsh and can lead to opposite results and I dare not use them, like hydroxyquinolones, azelaic acid etc.May be lasers are a good alternative.Best to visit a center like aiims,delhi-pigimer-chandigarh,st johns, bangalore where lasers are avaialable.

hello,
i know i have been bothering you will my constant questions but this time i need your advice due to family situation we will going to India in few weeks time..I have been told by my relatives constantly that there are many aurvedic treatments available for post inflammatory hyper pigmentation..are you aware of such treatments.
I am also planning to take second opinion of the dermatologist there as my dermatologist here have openly admitted that he has very less experience of treating Asian skin.Do derma in India treat hyper pigmentation aggressively due to cultural stigma attached to it.
What should i expect?i am not ready to treat this aggressively but got big dominating family what should i absolutely avoid??? you know how it somebodys relative got cured so can you daughter..sort of ****... you guidance will be much appreciated.
kind regards
