dark, dirt like splotches on my arms

I have developed slowly a series of darker splotches on my upper right arm, It is not significantly darker however but seems to be spreading slowly up my arm. It orignally looked like it could have just been dirty but now after two weeks and the slow growth of more slightly darker splotches I am coming to believe it may be a rash or skin pigmentation issue.
Also I am currently residing in Guatemala so I do not know of a dermatologist i can go see for help.
Thank you for your time.

Hi,
It could be urticaria pigmentosa.Urticaria pigmentosa, small collections of mast cells in the skin that manifest as salmon or brown-colored patches.
These skin lesions itch when stroked and may become fluid-filled.Do you have associated itching with the rash?
This condition usually clears up on its own. Try anti-histamines if itchy.
It could also be photosensitivity. You could try demelanizing/skin lightening creams on the affected areas.
If there is no improvement in a couple of weeks ,find yourself a dermatologist and get it evaluated.

Hi,

This could be due to dermatitis, fungal infection, any trauma or injury to the site.

Do you have any other associated symptoms of itching, rash , etc.

It would not be advisable to scrub the area too hard as this would irritate the skin. You should try to avoid sweat collection in the areas, keep the areas clean, maintain good personal hygiene, wear lose comfortable clothes. Apply calamine lotion at the sites.

Only a clinical examination would be able to give the cause of your symptoms.

Consult a skin specialist for your complaints and discuss whether this is normal or whether a demyelinizing agent would help in your case. Also discuss with your specialist about microdermabrasion and laser therapy in your case.

Let us know about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Post us about what your doctor advises.

Regards.
