dark itchy lumps on the finger joints

Hi Everyone,

I have this dark itchy lumps on my left hand index fingers. It's like a frog's egg it has liquid inside and a dark spot at the middle. I had this since 2008 and seems to be coming back (the itchiness) and when I scratch it, it forms blisters and they multiply. It After a few days, the itchy blisters dries up and become dark and leaves my finger joint thick and hard. It already spread in right hand and the infected fingers are 3 on the right and 1 on the left

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL

Hello,
It can be due to pompholyx. Wash the areas several times with fresh water. Do not use any cosmetic products at the sites. You can apply some calamine lotion at the rash as it will help in soothing the skin. You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps.

For mild-moderate symptoms a weak steroid may be used, whilst more severe cases require a higher-potency steroid. But they are available under prescription and should be taken only after consulting a dermatologist. Symptoms  can be exacerbated by dryness of the skin. Use good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.

Hello,

I am 26yrs male, having constant darkening, itchy thumbs on both my hands for more than 3 years.  I have been using Tenovate for several months and it became normal.  Once i stopped using it for a month, it came back.  And doctor suggested me Betenovate this time but doesnt seem helping.  Spoke to the doctor again regarding dermatologist consult, but he said i have allergies to detergents and dishwashers.  Please advise whether i can continue with the cream or require further evaluation.  Thanks!!!
