drug interactions involving Accutane

by kaety mayer, Mar 22, 2000 12:00AM
I have a very good friend who just passed away. The autopsy was inconclusive -  he was 24 and in seemingly perfect health. He was in his 4th month of taking Accutane and the blood tests performed a week before his death were normal. Are there any OTC drugs or herbal remedies that are known to have negative effects when taken with Accutane?

Kaety:

Not that I know of, Kaety.  Tragic events like the one you describe always raise more questions than there are answers.  Accuatne seems remarkably free of drug interactions.  Taking additional Vitamin A produces more dryness, because Accutane is a derivative of Vitamin A, but that's it.

Best.
