hi,
Just looking for some questions or some guidance. I have a dermatoligist appointement scheduled already but would like to know what i tests i could ask the physician to run. THe problem i have is my lips
when i go out in sun or if i sweat making my lips moist. That skin i whipe off all day as it keeps coming back on same area. Also when i go out into sun my lips feel like they are on fire no matter what i put on them and the only thing able to cool them off is cold water. I can feel heat from lips even when im not in sun but they arent on fire until i step into the sunlight. Any idea if this is fungal or bacterial infection or what other tests can i ask for at dermatoligist?
Since when are you having the symptoms? What is your age? Do you smoke?
Some causes could be lip biting, lip licking, Vit.B2 deficiency, smoking, overexposure to sun and ill fitting dentures. In extreme cases, this could be due to bacterial or fungal skin infection.
You need to drink plenty of water daily – around 1.5 – 3 litres per day. Do not keep your lips dry; apply lip balm which contains sunscreen – preferably a medicated one.
If you have cracks at the corner of your mouth it indicates B2 deficiency in this case you need to take B2 supplements.
If the symptoms still persist, consult your skin specialist or dermatologist. The required tests would be decided only after a clinical examination and after having a look at the lesions.
