epydermolysis bullosa treatment

by Crisitina, May 27, 2000 12:00AM
Dear Dr.
I have a friend whom it has been diagnosed with epidermolysis bullosa.  Unfortunately for this patient she is from Uruguay, where hers is the only case and there is no treatment available.  We would like to find out where can she be treated and if there is any kind of economic help available (maybe thorugh organizations?) since she has not many resources.  We would appreciate your help in this matter.
Sincerely
Cristina

Cristina:

I have two suggestions.  You can access a support group for patients with this disorder at the following website:  http://www.debra.org/  .  Also, you might write to Dr. Jo-David Fine, M.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dept. of Dermatology in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Good luck.
