facial rash with no explanation

by needhelp2177, Sep 22, 2008 07:48PM
My son is 2 and 1/2 and 6 weeks ago started presenting with a facial rash small bumpy red around the mouth and then getting larger like pimples as it spread toward the cheeks. I waited several weeks thinking it would clear up.  After 4 weeks, and worsening symptoms, I went to the doctor. He has always had perfect beautiful skin.  No skin issues whatsoever, and none in the family.  I have taken him to the pediatrician 2x and a dermatoligst once to no avail.  The Dermatoligist gave us atopiclair, which sometimes helps and sometimes doesn't.   Cortisone creams again sometimes seem to help, sometimes not.  Aquaphore cream, again sometimes yes, sometimes no.  It can flair up terribly one minute and dissipate significantly within several hours.  I very much feel it is systemic.  I have seen nothing like it in any picture online.  It is somewhat bumpy, hive like, and pimply all at the same time.  Very blistery almost in the inside corners of the eyes.  No other sypmtoms other than he seems much more irritable than what is normal for a child his age.  Soemthing tells me this requires more than a cream.  It is not among the usual suspects, and I have read many moms experienceing the exact same thing with no explanation, and the usual dismissals by Dr.'s.   Bacause I have lupus, I am asking my doctor for a blood analysis to rule this out.  I need answers.  This is just not normal.  Wait several years and see if it gets better is not a valid explanation or reply.  PLease help.
