facial thread veins

by antisocial, May 03, 2009 12:41PM
hello doctor.  i hope you can help me. i have a lot of red thread veins on my face and im so down with it i cant go out at all.  i had laser treatment several years ago (app 8) and although the doctor told me that the veins would go they didnt go completley and this was after many visits and a whole lot of money.  my question is firstly could his laser machine not have been as good as the current ones. also how do you pick which laser to opt for as its expensive if you get it wrong and there are so many out there now.  my beautitian says that my red veins are very faint but im a blusher, so could this actually work against me getting them treated sucessfully. so which laser would you recommend as the best for me. i also wanted to ask about this new veinwave treatment which is getting very good write ups and whether you think this would be better for me to try. (although i have read that there is a chance of scarring, it this right?.)
i really hope you can recommend the right way to go as i wouldnt wish my face on anyone. i do hope you can help me.
with my thanks

Newer lasers are better and safer.  The pulsed dye laser is one to look into, but basically I would seek out a doctor who has a lot of laser experience and several different machines.

One question your comments raise is whether you really just have very faint vessels that can't be eliminated, and are perhaps too self-conscious about them for your own good.  Lasers can't eliminate blushing and flushing and the redness that comes with them.  So when you see a doctor, ask whether it's realistic to get rid of what's bothering you.  If not, I advise you not to spend money on laser treatments and to consider getting psychological help with your shyness and antisocial tendencies.

Best.
