fair complexion african american with dark facial discolorations.

i have a dark discoloration under the skin on my manduble actually there's two of them. These r elongated areas that has not always been there, they were actually first noticed last yr. by my mother who thought I had a smudge on my face. Now they have darkened in appearance and r more defined in size and shape. I as well as my mother have become concerned about this. is there anything that u can tell me about my problem based on the info that I given to u? it looks as if I have a bruise there. Anxiously waiting for a reply. thank you .

Without examination, confirmation of a diagnosis is tough, but it can be due to hyperpigmentation of the skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin.

Treatment involves hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream, microdermarasion, chemical peels and laser treatment. Please discuss these options with your dermatologist before using them.
