finally!! i figured it all out! Seborrheic Dermatitis is whats happening

by intheb0x, Oct 06, 2009 12:03AM
Well after about a year or so with dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis, i never knew what it was. i stupidly turned down my works health insurance coverage so i never got to go in to get a Docs opinion.

about a year about i started to get red spots on my face around my beard and nose area. i started using all types of lotions and such to remedy the issue. i found out different lotions that work and some that dont. most of the time its the non fragrence type that work like, Eurecin, Cetaphil, things like that.

i originally thought i had eczema. so i started a regimen of hyrdocorizone cream, eurecin, and cetaphil all at the same time, start with the hydro all over the itchy scaly parts, then proceed with cetaphil and eruecin to top it off. usually in the morning before work this would help the inflammation, redness, scaling. well recently it has gotten so out of hand my face around my mustache under my nose, on my nose and parts of my cheeks were so red they looked like a tomato and people were asking about it, it really effected me personally.

nothing was working and i was ready to give up and pay cash out of pocket to see a doctor. until i looked up my symptoms of incredible burning, scaling, itching and redness in my mustache/face and found out about Seborrheic Dermatitis, following suggestion of using head and shoulders my face immediately started to feel better. im 3 days into using head and shoulders 1% regular stuff and today i went and got T sal, lets hope i didnt over do it with the tsal, i thought using both would help more then just the head and shoulders.

but the results of the Head and Shoulders is incredible, hardly any scailing, the redness is GOING AWAY and the itching is allmost nonexistent.

im so overwhelmed and happy about this, when i read about the shampoo on your face i thought this cant be, but tried it and its working.

any suggestions or questions about my experience and treatment on my own would be welcomed.

this has been affecting me for so long that i didnt know what to do.

you name it from lotions to creams i have tried it all. i know the best and then the rest.

To: intheb0x,
Hello,
Seborrheic dermatitis is a common skin condition that causes flaky, dry, white to yellowish scales to form on oily areas esp under the nose or anywhere on face. You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.

If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist
I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.
