This happens to me now... I found  that a few years ago my hands and fingers would "prune" up fast in the shower or bathing or even washing up... The actual skin on my palms almost looks like its shedding... I did have some issues a few years ago with washing my hands in neat bleach due to mild OCD but I dont know if I have since damaged the derma on my hands. I have tried vaseline creams and others but it still happens. my skin feels sore every shower I have because of this yet the skin everywhere else is fine. I am fair skinned and fair haired so I dont know whether its related. Should I perhaps go see a doctor regarding this as it is painful everytime in near water

Hi,

The wrinkles that occur in skin after prolonged exposure to water are sometimes referred to as pruney fingers or water aging. This is a temporary skin condition where the skin on the palms of the hand or feet becomes wrinkly.

So this is a natural phenomenon and you need not worry about this as long as they come back to normal. You could wear gloves if you want.

Let me know if you need any other information.

Regards.
