folliculitis or molluscum

by fallen, Mar 10, 2006 12:00AM
I went to the doctor about two months ago and i had a couple of small red bumps on the base area of my penis and in my pubic hair area.  My urologist said that they were infected hair follicles and not to worry.  Some of them have scabbed over and gone away and a few others havent they have hair growing out of them and they do not itch that much anymore.  I went to my regular doctor today and he said that he thought that it was molluscum contagiosum.  Who should i believe and what should I do if anything about this.

Your saying that there are hairs growing out of them argues for what the urologist said.  That's all I can say from a distance.  If you're still concerned, you should leave them alone and see a dermatologist for diagnosis and, if necessary, treatment.

Take care.

seeing as they have hair growing out of them i would go with the first one :) i had the same thing on the shaft of my penis before but it was just one, went red n swollen then i must have rubbed it away and was a sore area with a hair growing, hope that helps :)
