folliculitis

by pinkpanther28, Aug 14, 2009 08:23AM
I have folliculitis.. The skin disease has covered my entire stomach. They are spreading on my thighs, underarms, and on my butt..  The scars are big, and black, and they look like they are embedded in my skin. Before they errupt they are filled with yellow and red pus.  My question is how to I get rid of the scars that has errrupted and settled in my skin?  Thank you in advance.  Amber

Hello,
The scars after the infected follicles heal are called post inflammatory hyperpigmented scars. The treatment for post inflammatory hyperpigmentation includes various skin creams like hydroquinone, azelaic acid, corticosteroids, tretinoin cream and laser treatment.Apply hydroquinone cream on these scars and it should go away in a few days to months. If it still persists then you can go in for laser treatment, Chemical peeling or microdermabrasion. Avoid picking, harsh scrubbing, and abrasive treatments unless prescribed by a dermatologist during this period.

I hope that helps.Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
