Hi I have been diagnosed by my GP with folliculitus (folliculitis) after a misdiagnosis of exzema (eczema) the condition has been on-going for 18 months I have finished a six week course of antibiotics which have had little effect I have now been given fucidin which is'nt helping either. I am starting to get really depressed about it as it covers the front of both my legs from ankle
. I am using anti-bacterial soap to wash with and try not to shave unless apsolutely nesscessary. My doctor seems a bit at a loss can you offer any advice?
When you say doctor - what do you mean? GP or dermatologist?
If you are not seeing a dermatologist you'd better get one now because your doctor doesn't sound specialised enough. The good news is that your condition, whilst distressing, does not sound serious and does not spread. If it was going to spread it would have done so by now after 18 months. But this is no reason not to get the proper treatment for it.
? If so, chances are that this could be fungal and that you need to check with your GP and get it treated for that.
But I am not a doctor or a medical professional. I am just going through the same as you. For me, I get put on antibiotics for a few days and they work a little. I think that Fucidin works a little for me but I get my biopsy results back from my derm tomorrow. I am different to you in that I have it everywhere. Let me know you you get on.
